Anti Bullying at Campsmount

The Anti-Bullying Alliance and its members have an agreed shared definition of bullying based on research from across the world over the last 30 years.

'The repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power. Bullying can be physical, verbal or psychological. It can happen face-to-face or online.'

Bullying behaviour can be:

  • Physical – pushing, poking, kicking, hitting, biting, pinching etc.
  • Verbal  - name calling, sarcasm, spreading rumours, threats, teasing, belittling.
  • Emotional – isolating others, tormenting, hiding books, threatening gestures,  ridicule, humiliation, intimidating, excluding, manipulation and coercion.
  • Sexual – unwanted physical contact, inappropriate touching, abusive comments, homophobic abuse, exposure to inappropriate films etc.
  • Online /cyber – posting on social media, sharing photos, sending nasty text messages, social exclusion
  • Indirect - Can include the exploitation of individuals.

At Campsmount we do not accept bullying of any kind. In our academy we believe that everyone has a right to equal chances. Each student is valued and respected for who he/she/they are:

  • We are an academy where bullying is seen as unacceptable by all members of the school
  • We will deal with it seriously and sensitively
  • We will take appropriate action
  • We will not tolerate bullying

Reporting Bullying

If bullying does take place, our students will be able to tell someone in the assurance that this will be dealt with quickly.

If a student is being bullied, know someone who is being bullied or have witnessed bullying they can report to us by pressing the Report It button on this page. This report will be sent to the following people:

  • Mr Broad - Deputy Headteacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Jo North - Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer 
  • Lee Rowarth - Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer
