Life Skills education is an academy curriculum subject through which students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. Our Life Skills curriculum helps students to stay healthy, safe and prepared for life and work in modern Britain.
PSHE, RSE and RS are a statutory but non-examined subject. It helps to give students the understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. It is here that your child will learn about bullying, discrimination, drug education, healthy eating, physical activity, mental and emotional health, wellbeing, and sex and relationships. They will also learn about key beliefs for Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and Humanism. Our Programme of Study also aims to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, team work and critical thinking.
Topics covered within Life Skills are grouped into three core themes: Health and wellbeing, Relationships, and Living in the wider world, which also encompasses careers.
The programme of study for each year group can be viewed by following the links below. Changes may occur throughout the year to fit in with developments in society and key world events.
